The next big thing

June 2, 2009 by intheshuck

There is a new idea which I think is going to catch on.

Basically you are in the middle of a big city, whip out your Iphone and you can have a look at discount coupons on your Iphone for businesses within the local area. For example there is a coupon for a local restaurant offering a free bottle of wine with your meal. When you go into the restaurant you show the waiter the coupon on your phone and voila. The restaurant can also size up the return on investment very easily.

Iphone and Email

January 12, 2009 by intheshuck

Up to now I have avoided using my Iphone for email mainly because I am not sure exactly how it works. I f I delete an email on my Iphone does it delete the email on Outlook or am I only getting a copy sent to my Iphone. I am also worried that I will spend too much time reading emails rather than dealing with them once a day as I normally do.

Poker

January 6, 2009 by intheshuck

It never ceases to amaze me that I have been playing live poker for 30 years and have never had a losing year. However I have been playing online poker since back in the days of Delta and Planet Poker and never had a winning year. I put this down to a lack of discipline. I rarely play online now other than for a bit of occasional fun. All my friends who are also experienced poker players say they are in the same situation. I also have to say that its only in the last couple of years that I have won money playing poker on holiday in Las Vegas and I have been going there for the last fifteen years.

Stock Market : The time is now

January 6, 2009 by intheshuck

I have had my fingers burnt on a few occasions over the last twenty years investing in the stock market. I lost a lot of money during the internet bubble following the crowd.

I think you need to get caught to make you realize when the right time to invest comes around. Since September 2008 I have been paying a lump sum into my pension and I will continue to do this for seven months. Its about three times the amount I would normally pay in. I have also stopped paying into overseas funds in my pension and moved to UK funds because of the weakness of the pound.

This month (Jan 09) I intend to buy 2 shares per month for 10 months but not as part of my pension. I know there is no point in trying to call the bottom and therefore drip feeding is the only answer. They will all be Buffey type companies. I hope I haven’t got it wrong again.

Sensi Dial

January 5, 2009 by intheshuck

This is one of the more useful Iphone applications. The way I set it up was one swipe for family with a different amount of taps for each family member, two swipes for friends and three swipes for work colleagues.  I keep about 20 numbers on it and it works very well.

Description

Sensi Dial is a new type of phone dialer that takes advantage of the iPhone touch screen. Sensi Dial allows you to dial your friends and family by performing a sequence of gestures. With a series of taps and swipes, you can call someone without having to look at your screen.

Just position the Sensi Dial icon at an easy to remember location on your home screen so that you can start it quickly. Connect a sequence of touch gestures to call a configured contact. Sensi Dial can be a substitute for your iPhone favorites.

Sensi Dial is most useful in driving or blind dialing situations. Other dialing methods such as voice dialing are inaccurate and may return multiple results which require users to look at the screen.

Features

  • Detailed view of all contacts that you configure.
  • Includes sound, vibrate, and visual feedback.
  • Customizable delay time before dialing out.
  • Shake the iPhone to cancel the dial event and restart from new. You can set the sensitivity in the settings.
  • Predictive search presents top three best matches to assist you in dialing the right people.
  • Personalize dial screen with you own wallpaper from your photo library.

The perfect Christmas Present

December 1, 2007 by intheshuck

I just paid £35 for my son’s christmas present a share in the soccer club Ebbsfleet Utd through http://www.myfootballclub.co.uk/. This is an amazing concept for over 50,000 people to own a non league football club. They can play a part in picking the team and deciding on player transfers. Imagine if they make it to the premier league.

Vegas here I come

November 26, 2007 by intheshuck

I have just booked a flight with Maxjet to Las Vegas for January. In my opinion its the best way to fly to the USA from the UK. Its the same as what you would get flying first class with any other airline but for a fraction of the cost.
